Meet Our Management Staff

Malcolm & Donna Zanca Malcolm Zanca is the President and owner of Harley-Davidson/Buell of Baton Rouge and the Hammond Harley-Davidson Shop. He has been a Harley dealer since 1975 when he and his dad, Vincent, acquired Harley-Davidson as part of their small motorcycle shop – Hammond Suzuki in Hammond, LA. Mr. Zanca and Malcolm ran the business together, Malcolm as Service Manager and lead tech, and Mr. Zanca headed up all other aspects of the business. Opportunity knocked in 1980 when the Baton Rouge dealership went up for sale. Mr. Zanca purchased the dealership and moved the operation to Baton Rouge on Main Street.

The dealership opened a new facility on Harrell’s Ferry Road in July 1981 where it was expanded and remodeled twice. Mr. Zanca retired from the business because of declining health and Malcolm took over operation of the business.

Donna Zanca taught school in Ponchatoula while working with Malcolm on weekends, holidays, and summer vacations. She assisted in all aspects of the business.

As the business grew, it was time to relocate to a larger facility to meet the demands of the changing market. Donna retired from teaching after 20 years and began to work fulltime in 1994, and they moved to Baton Rouge. The new 40,000 sq.ft. facility on Siegen Lane opened its doors in November of 2000. Malcolm has recently served on Harley-Davidson’s National Dealer Advisory Council as its President. He also served on the Buell Strategy Committee and Harley-Davidson’s Financial Services Dealer Advisory Council. The passion and dedication to our business and their great staff has earned them the Gold Bar & Shield “Top 25” Dealer Award five times. The strive for excellence has always been Malcolm’s goal in growing the business and making it fun at the same time.

Chopper Meek – Official Shop Pooch An animal of questionable parenthood to be sure. He comes to us via the Riders Edge Program, so he has a background with motorcycles. He was a stray found by Pearl Oldham during her class, and brought to the Harley store in hopes of finding someone to adopt him. Nikki & Dewayne Meek took him in and have taken him to work each day since. He has become a real favorite with customers & employees alike. His duties include, but are not limited to, greeting customers, licking customers, playing with customers, making sure there is no waste in the lunchroom, and general all around feel good stuff. Make sure to ask for him when you visit the store. In case you bring him a “Greenie” you’ll get a special lick. As the official shop pooch, he reports directly to whoever has a doggie treat in their hand.

Service Manager for Hammond H-D Richard Hodges is coming home! A native of Louisiana, he worked for the Zanca Family at the, “Original Hammond Multi Line Dealership” back in the late 70’s. He spent his early years cutting his teeth in the business as a line Technician learning and refining his natural technical ability from Malcolm himself. Eventually he became the Service Manager. His specialty is performance work; there are rumors that like the horse whisperer Harley-Davidson® bikes speak to him. If there is any horsepower and torque to be found he will find every last cubic inch of it. His nickname is the Screamin' Eagle King. In the early '90s, he left Louisiana for the big city, Miami, where he was the Service Manager for a quite a few years, then off to Southern California. He spent the last 9 years in California running a very lucrative Service Department and finally realized what was important in life, family and home sweet home. He moved home in 2004 back to his roots, back to where his passion for Harley-Davidson began, Hammond. Contact Richard Hodges at 985-345-8381 or via e-mail at rhodges@hammondharleydavidson.com.

Parts & Accessory Manager for Hammond H-D He’s returned! Join us in welcoming back Tim Buechele to our “Harley-Davidson Family.” For those of you “not in the know,” Tim was a loyal employee of Harley-Davidson/Buell of Baton Rouge from 1993 - 2001. He served as Retail Sales Manager, General Manager, and General Sales Manager. While part of the Baton Rouge team, Tim was instrumental in dozens of “frame-up” custom bike projects. In the late 90’s, he was also responsible for implementing the pilot program for Harley-Davidson’s nationally recognized “Rider’s Edge” new rider training program and secured for Harley-Davidson/Buell of Baton Rouge Louisiana’s first Authorized Rental program. In 2001, Tim departed Baton Rouge to assume the Service Manager’s position at Woodstock Harley-Davidson in New York so he might be closer to his father who was stricken with Alzheimer’s disease. After his father’s passing in 2002, Tim returned to Louisiana and focused on honing his service management skills as Service Manager at Bent Marine in Metairie until March of 2006. While Tim has an excellent working knowledge of all things Harley, he has a particular affection for the agility and power of the Sportster® choosing as his daily ride a “self built” rigid framed Evo-powered “bopper.” What’s a “bopper?” A hybrid cross of a nostalgic bobber and a 70’s era chopper. When not helping riders make their v-twin visions a reality, Tim enjoys cooking, collecting Harley-Davidson memorabilia, and spending time with his wife Karey and their 3 children. Tim and his staff are committed to exceeding all your parts and accessories expectations, so please let them know if there’s something you need that’s not in inventory! Contact Tim Buechele at 985-345-8381 or via e-mail at tbuechele@hammondharleydavidson.com.

MotorClothes® Merchandise Manager for Hammond H-D Jacqueline “Nikki” Meek started her H-D experience at the ripe early age of 18 working for Barnett Harley-Davidson in El Paso, TX. A huge surprise seeing as her Mother, Stepfather, and Sister all work for Harley-Davidson. Since her tenure at Barnett’s, she has worked at 3 other large Harley-Davidson dealerships, from Arizona to Florida, and comes to the Hammond family with vast management experience in General Merchandising. Nikki and her husband Dewayne, Service Manager for the Baton Rouge store, relocated to the Walker area in March of 2005 to become part of the H-D family in Baton Rouge. Her love for shoes, clothes and the Harley-Davidson experience makes her a natural fit in General Merchandising. Nikki’s greatest passions in life are her family, her career, and her pets; especially their recently adopted “son”, Chopper Meek, who holds the distinction of “Official Shop Pooch” of Hammond Harley-Davidson and their “daughter” Cheyenne Meek, who goes to work with Dad at the Baton Rouge store.
Nikki would like to extend an open Welcome to each and everyone and if there is anything her and her staff can do for you, all you need to do is ask. Contact Nikki Meek at 985-345-8381 or via e-mail at nmeek@hammondharleydavidson.com.
